Jonas Vingegaard has to give up the leader's jersey at Paris-Nice. The Dane also loses the overall lead to his team-mate Jorgenson due to a crash in stage 5 to La Côte-Saint-André.
The American Matteo Jorgenson was only beaten by the French stage winner Lenny Martinez on the 203-kilometer stage, which ended with a final climb with an average gradient of 10.8 percent.
Vingegaard, who crossed the finish line with a sore wrist and a cut lip, lost almost half a minute to Martinez. The best Swiss rider was Stefan Küng in 36th place, 2:01 minutes behind.
