Overall victory at Paris-Nice goes to the confident Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane wins ahead of the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez and the German Georg Steinhauser.
With his first victory in the "Race to the Sun", the two-time winner of the Tour de France celebrated a successful start to the season and sent a clear signal to his great rival Tadej Pogacar. In addition to the yellow jersey, Vingegaard also won the mountains classification and the points classification.
This year, Vingegaard is taking a different approach to knock Pogacar off the Tour throne again after two overall victories in a row. The 29-year-old is riding the Giro d'Italia for the first time and could thus become the first active rider to record overall victories in the three major national tours. In addition to the Tour and Giro, this includes the Vuelta in Spain, which Vingegaard won for the first time last year.
Vingegaard was certainly in a league of his own at Paris-Nice. On the fourth stage, the Visma pro took the lead in the overall standings with a solo victory and also won the fifth stage the following day with an even greater lead.
