Visp and La Chaux-de-Fonds complete the playoff semi-finals

Sierre and Olten had already qualified for the semi-finals on Friday, and two days later Visp and La Chaux-de-Fonds also achieved the necessary fourth win in their quarter-finals. This is bad news for Ambri-Piotta and Ajoie, as the sword of Damocles of a possible relegation remains. Visp and La Chaux-de-Fonds are the only two clubs who, if they win the Swiss League title, would be able to compete in the league qualifiers for promotion.

In Basel, all three goals were scored in the final third, with last year's Swiss League champions coming out on top in the end. La Chaux-de-Fonds had won the first two games against Chur, then lost twice, but responded to the weakness. In the sixth game, they took a 2-0 lead in Chur through Michael Loosli with four-and-a-half minutes to go and held on to the narrow lead despite the Grisons' final goal.

At least one of the clubs entitled to promotion will also be in the final of the second-highest league, with Visp facing La Chaux-de-Fonds at home on Friday. In the other semi-final, qualification winners Sierre and Olten will face each other.
