EHC Visp is keeping its dream of promotion to the National League alive. After their fourth win against Thurgau, the Valais team is in the playoff final.
In the Upper Valais they are dreaming, in Lugano and the Jura they are probably trembling a little. EHC Visp, who were unconvincing over long stretches of the qualifying round, made it to the Swiss League final in the fastest possible way. The team of Danish coach Heinz Ehlers won the fourth game of the best-of-seven series against Thurgau 3-0 on Friday evening, with Jorden Gähler and Stefan Mäder scoring two goals in the middle third to put the game out of reach.
As Visp is the only remaining team entitled to promotion, it is also clear that the relegation play-off will take place between thirteenth-placed Lugano and fourteenth-placed Ajoie. The loser would have to face Visp in a league qualifier for the last place in the National League if the Valais team also wins the final.
The opponent there is still completely open. Qualification winners Basel are still finding it extremely difficult against Olten. Game 4 went into overtime for the third time, with the northern Swiss team leading 2:1 after three games. In Game 4, Basel ultimately prevailed 5:4.
