After a 4-2 away win in the third game of the semi-final series against Thurgau, Visp is one win away from a place in the Swiss League play-off final.
The preliminary decision in Visp's favor came as early as the opening period. Within 49 seconds, the team from Upper Valais took a 2:0 lead with a double strike from Jacob Nilsson and Jordan Gähler. In the middle period, Noah Fuss increased the lead to 4:0 with two goals, after which Thurgau only managed to cosmeticize the result.
After their second away win in Weinfelden, Visp lead the best-of-7 series 3-0 and can clinch the series at home next Friday. This is somewhat bad news for Lugano and Ajoie, the playout participants in the National League. Visp is the only remaining team in the Swiss League that is eligible for promotion.
In the second semi-final series, qualification winners Basel continue to struggle against Olten. The third game went into overtime after three periods without a goal. The first two games ended with narrow home victories.
