EHC Visp makes a successful start to the new Swiss League season. The team from the Upper Valais defeated last season's play-off finalists GCK Lions 4:1 in front of their home crowd.
Visper's start to the new season could not have gone better. Less than two minutes had been played when Stefan Mader put the home team ahead. Tim Grossniklaus and Noah Fuss made sure the game was decided before half-time. The visitors reduced the deficit through Jarno Karki before the end of the second period. However, Vincent Ryser made it 4:1 just 20 seconds into the final period.
The other teams in the second-highest league also start the season on Friday. Among others, champions La Chaux-de-Fonds will host EHC Basel.
