The first day of the World Championships in Lake Placid did not go as planned for the Swiss bobsleigh athletes. In the battle for a medal, Michael Vogt is reliant on mistakes from the competition.

Although Michael Vogt/Andreas Haas are in a good 5th place after two of four runs in the two-man event, they are already 82 hundredths off the podium.
Cédric Follador, who was weakened by the flu, held up well with two solid runs and 10th place. Timo Rohner was not at all satisfied in 13th place.
Unsurprisingly, the three German sleds are in the lead with Francesco Friedrich as the leader. Fourth on his home track is the American Frank Del Duca. The last two runs are scheduled for Sunday evening Swiss time.
