Julien Wanders experiences another disappointment at the marathon in Hamburg. The 29-year-old from Geneva gives up shortly after the halfway point at kilometer 25.
After years of effort and difficulties, Wanders wants to try again. In Germany, he was aiming for a time under 2:10 hours for the 42.195 km for the first time. This was only the third marathon of his faltering career. The Kenyan-by-choice achieved a time of 2:11:52 on his debut at this distance in Paris in 2022, where he suffered from stomach problems, and retired in Valencia the same year.
