Wout van Aert narrowly beaten again

In the World Tour race "Across Flanders", the Belgian was caught 200 m before the finish in Waregem and beaten by the Italian Filippo Ganna.

Van Aert had led the 185 km long race for 30 kilometers and kept the field at a distance of a few meters until the end, but not time trial specialist Filippo Ganna, who passed him irresistibly on the home straight. Third place went to the Norwegian Sören Waerenskjold, who won the sprint of the field.

Last Sunday at "In Flanders Fields", the former Gent-Wevelgem, Van Aert was caught and overtaken by Mathieu van der Poel one kilometer before the finish after a similarly long escape.

The highlight of the cycling week is coming up this Sunday with the Tour of Flanders. Last year's winner Tadej Pogacar, three-time winner Van der Poel and, for the first time, Remco Evenepoel will also be at the start.
