Genève-Servette Hockey Club changed coach immediately after Sunday's 8-0 debacle in Biel. Frenchman Yorick Treille was released after returning from Biel.

The 8-0 defeat against Biel - in combination with the 5-1 loss at home to Lugano on Friday - weighed too heavily for the Geneva management. Servette announced the departure of Yorick Treille on its "X" account - and thanked Treille for his many years of work in Geneva.

Treille started at Servette in 2022 as assistant to Jan Cadieux. On December 28, 2024, he was promoted to head coach as Cadieux's successor. Servette currently occupy 7th place in the National League - just one point behind HC Fribourg-Gottéron.

Who will succeed Yorick Treille in Geneva will be announced later. One candidate is certainly the Finn Ville Peltonen, who has been working alongside Treille as associate coach since this season. Ville Peltonen worked in the National League as an assistant at SC Bern (2016 to 2018) and then for two seasons as head coach at Lausanne (2018 to 2020). For the last four seasons, Peltonen worked as head coach at IFK Helsinki.
