EV Zug can no longer win against the ZSC Lions. The team from central Switzerland conceded its seventh defeat in a row against the defending champions with a 4-0 loss.

The decisive moment came in the 32nd minute: first Zug forward Mike Künzle missed the post, then the visitors increased the lead to 3:0 through defenceman Santtu Kinnunen. The preparatory work was provided by Denis Malgin, who notched up his third assist of the game under the watchful eye of national coach Patrick Fischer. The lively center scored three points in a game for the third time in a row.

The forward line of Malgin, Derek Grant and Sven Andrighetto was a constant source of danger, especially in the first period. Grant was responsible for the 1:0 in the 13th minute with his eleventh goal of the season, 192 seconds later Andrighetto increased the lead to 3:0 (16.). Surprisingly, the Lions had the worst powerplay in the league before the game.

Shortly after the 0:3, Zug's top scorer Daniel Vozenilek failed to hit the empty net. In the 38th minute, Lino Martschini and Künzle again missed two top chances. As a result, there was no more tension. Even if the result was too high, the victory of the calm Lions was absolutely justified. Mikko Lehtonen scored the 4:0 (52'). Zurich goalie Simon Hrubec needed 25 saves for his first shutout in the current championship.

While EVZ lost for the first time in three wins, ZSC celebrated their third victory in a row.

Davos wins thanks to two shorthanded goals within 13 seconds

HC Davos wins 6-2 in Lausanne, also thanks to a record, and defends its lead in the standings. Tino Kessler scores twice for the visitors.

The day before, Davos squandered a 3:0 lead at home against Ambri-Piotta and lost 3:4 after overtime. Against Lausanne, the Grisons fell behind after 49 seconds. However, they responded in the style of a solid team and scored four goals in the middle third to make the decisive difference.

First, Tino Kessler equalized in the power play (24th). And then came the 29th minute, which will go down in the history books. While Davos' Sven Jung was on the penalty bench, Kessler and Matej Stransky gave the visitors a 3:1 lead with two goals within 13 seconds. There have never been two shorthanded goals in such a short space of time in the top Swiss league. The previous record was also held by the HCD; Reto von Arx and Beat Forster scored two shorthanded goals within 21 seconds on February 26, 2005. Exactly halfway through the game, 41-year-old Andres Ambühl scored his first goal of the current championship to make it 4-1.

This laid the foundation for Davos' tenth win in the last 13 games. The record champions had already won the first duel of the season against LHC (5:2). For the Vaud team, it was only their third defeat in their 13th home game of the season and a further bitter setback after Tuesday's 6-1 loss in Biel.
