St. Gallen's scorer of the winning goal Alessandro Vogt (2nd from right) celebrates
Keystone
In the second part of the 32nd round of the Super League, St. Gallen beat Zurich 2:1 to reduce the gap on leaders Thun to twelve points.
Striker Alessandro Vogt fired St. Gallen to victory over Zurich in the 75th minute. The U21 international caught Zurich goalkeeper Silas Huber between the legs with his finish.
What does FC St. Gallen's comeback mean for the championship? FC Thun, who lost 1-0 at Lugano on Easter Saturday, can only become champions with home wins against FC Basel (next Saturday) and Lugano (on April 25) if St. Gallen drop points in their away game at Lucerne (next Sunday). If Thun win both home games, the promoted team can still become champions in the 34th round - namely on the sofa, should St. Gallen not win at Young Boys on April 26.
At the back, everything remained unchanged. Because Grasshoppers lost against Sion (0:4) for the sixth time in a row - and even lost heavily for the third time in a row (1:5, 0:5, 0:4) - they remain five points ahead of Winterthur in 11th place. FC Zurich (10th) are still ten points ahead of the barrage place. Grasshoppers and Winterthur play each other twice more.
In the fairly meaningless game between Servette and Lucerne, Geneva won 3-0. On Easter Saturday, the spectacular classic between Basel and Young Boys ended in a 3-3 draw, while Lausanne defeated Winterthur 2-1.
