* JACKSON ANNOUNCES SWANSONG SHOWS
MICHAEL JACKSON will make a spectacular live comeback with ten shows in London this summer (09) - his last ever concerts in the U.K. capital.
The King of Pop confirmed on Thursday (05Mar09) he will stage the series of "This Is It" gigs at the O2 Arena in July.
But in a shock development, he also announced he plans never to perform in London again - and hinted it could signal the end of his music career forever, describing the shows as his "final curtain call".
The concerts will be the Thriller hitmaker's first major live performances since 1997.
At a press conference at the O2 Arena, in east London, Jackson walked onstage in front of 2,500 screaming fans to make the announcement.
Wearing dark sunglasses and a black jacket with silver braiding, he hugged the event's host - British TV presenter Dermot O'Leary - before addressing the crowd in a slow drawl.
Jackson said, "I love you so much. Thank you all. This is it. This is it. I just want to say that these will be my final performances in London. This will be it.
"When I say 'This Is It' I really mean this is it. I will be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is the final... the final curtain call, okay - and I will see you in July. I love you - I really do, you have to know that. I love you so much - really. From the bottom of my heart."
The run of ten shows will begin on 08 July (09). Tickets, priced from 0 (£50), will go on sale on 13 March (09).
