Kerstin Ott: "I'm going to marry her!"
Ott and Köppen have been a couple for ten years and got married in 2017. Two years later, the singer revealed in Bild how she met her wife.
"When I saw her for the first time, I said to my best friend at the time: 'I'm marrying her! Her answer was: 'No, Karolina likes men. I'll be pope first'."
Köppen was not in love with Ott, but she nevertheless agreed to get to know the singer better. "We saw each other every day for six months and fell asleep next to each other - nothing happened," Ott told Bild.
In the end, it was her current wife who took the first step.

Kerstin Ott conquered the charts for the first time eight years ago with the song "Die immer lacht". Since then, the trained painter and varnisher has been one of the most successful singers in German-speaking Europe.
But things could have turned out very differently.
The singer grew up in a children's home and with foster families and suffered from gambling addiction for years. "Unfortunately, I discovered gambling for myself when I was 18," she reveals in an interview with "Glückspost".
As a result, she went to the arcade more and more often. It was not uncommon for her to gamble away her entire monthly salary during these visits - and become homeless. However, Ott did not let this get her down.
At 25, she managed to kick her addiction. "With a lot of reflection, determination and the agony of honestly admitting what was going on," explains the singer. She hasn't seen the inside of an arcade since.
Ott has stopped smoking and lives vegan
Some time ago, the singer turned her life upside down once again. "I've wanted to stop smoking for a long time because I've become more and more aware of how important health really is over the years."
Ott no longer eats meat for the same reasons, as she could no longer bear the thought of the poor animals. The singer proves how serious she is about her commitment as the face of an advertising campaign for the animal welfare organization Peta.
The singer and songwriter has also developed musically in recent years. She has sung duets with Helene Fischer and Ben Zucker, among others.
Is there another artist she would like to sing a duet with? "With Tracy Chapman. After that, I would retire straight away because it couldn't get any better," says Kerstin Ott in the "Glückspost".
When asked about her future, the singer says: "Planning has proven to be extremely pointless for me. I let everything come to me. And most importantly: think positively and don't moan when things get stressful, just keep your chin up."
