  • He now wants to make it into the top ten in the ESC final.

Remo Forrer can breathe easy for now. Thanks to public votes from ESC viewers worldwide, the Toggenburg native has made it to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The next day, he sits in the lobby of his hotel and you can see that this first victory has taken a lot of pressure off his shoulders. Even when the hotel briefly tests its fire alarm during the interview and there is excitement all around him, he remains relaxed.

"It's a brilliant feeling," Forrer explains his mood in an interview with blue News. "I only had a short night and I'm very tired, but the relief is indescribable."

"I've never been so nervous"

For four months, his life had been all about preparing for the ESC semi-final. "I couldn't think about anything else but my performance. I've already achieved my goal of progressing, which feels great."

Waiting for the result was particularly nerve-wracking: "I've never been so nervous before." When the presenters then called "Switzerland", all the tension fell away from him: "I've never felt like this in my life."

Now that the first hurdle has been overcome, he can approach the final "more relaxed", as Forrer reveals. "The pressure is certainly still very high, but I've achieved my big goal," says Forrer. "I hope that I can now enjoy my appearance in the final a little more." His big dream now is to finish in the top ten.

Remo Forrer will be singing for Switzerland again in Liverpool on Saturday, 13 May. blue News will be following the ESC final in the ticker.
