Peter Maffay is calling it quits. The German rock singer is planning to go on his last major tour in 2024. The reason for his departure: the 74-year-old wants to spend more time with his family.

The tour will start on June 21 in Rostock. Ten concerts in Germany are currently listed on the 74-year-old singer's website. A performance in Switzerland is not yet planned.
Peter Maffay: "I will continue to make music"
"In our rock fairy tale Tabaluga, there's a beautiful saying: Everything in life has its time," says Maffay in an interview with Bild. That's why the time has come for him to take a break.
"This will be my last continuous tour. I will continue to make music. But no longer in the way our fans have known us up to now."
Anastacia will be a special guest next year. Maffay has now also recorded a duet with the 55-year-old singer - his hit "So bist Du" in English. "I am very happy. Because I've always admired Anastacia."
Maffay wants to spend more time with his family
The reason for his departure from the big stage: his family. "I want to spend more time with my daughter and my wife. They are my absolute priority."
Peter Maffay began his concert career 54 years ago in the former Munich live club "Song Parnass". He performed there together with schoolmate Margaret Kraus as the folk beat duo "Peter & Margit".
The singer was later discovered by producer Michael Kunze, who recorded "Du" with him in 1970 - Maffay's first number 1 hit.
Peter Maffay does not want to say goodbye to the stage completely (yet): he wants to continue performing at one-off concerts or festivals, for example.
