- Universal Music Entertainment is suspending its promo for Rammstein for the time being.
- The label has announced that it will no longer support the band until the allegations have been clarified.
- Several women have accused Till Lindemann of performing sexual acts on them without being asked.
"The allegations against Till Lindemann have shocked us and we have the utmost respect for the women who have so courageously spoken out publicly in this case," reads a statement released by the company on Thursday.
"We are convinced that a full investigation of the allegations, including by the authorities, is absolutely necessary and must also be in the interests of the entire band," the label writes.
"After the allegations came to light, we have suspended marketing and promotional activities for the band's recordings until further notice." This means that the albums released by Universal will no longer be promoted for the time being.
According to Universal, the business relationship with the band includes the so-called recorded music and publishing business, but not the live or merchandising business.
Sexual acts after concerts
Following reports of allegations against Rammstein frontman Lindemann, the Berlin public prosecutor's office opened an investigation against him on Wednesday. This was done on the basis of several criminal complaints and ex officio, it said.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the charges were filed by third parties "not involved in the crime". No further details could be provided at present, it said, referring to the ongoing investigations and the protection of the personal rights of those involved.
Several women have made allegations against Lindemann in recent days, some of them anonymously. The women described situations that they had found frightening in some cases.
Young women had been selected during concerts and asked if they wanted to come to the after-show party. According to some of the women, sexual acts also took place.
"Accusations are untrue without exception"
Lindemann denied the allegations against him last Thursday. He is having his interests represented by a lawyer, as Berlin lawyers Simon Bergmann and Christian Schertz announced on June 8.
"Serious allegations have been made against our client by various women on social networks, particularly on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube," they said in a statement.
"For example, it was repeatedly claimed that women were drugged with knockout drops or alcohol at Rammstein concerts in order to enable our client to perform sexual acts on them. These allegations are untrue without exception."
The lawyers have not yet commented on the investigations by the Berlin public prosecutor's office.
