England will once again receive royal support for the European Championship: Prince William is to travel to Germany for the quarter-finals on Saturday. His visit is said to be a short trip to Germany.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • Prince William is planning to watch the England national team's quarter-final match against Switzerland live in Düsseldorf.
  • After the game, William will travel straight back to the UK.
  • At the game against Denmark, he met the Danish King Frederik X and his daughter, and commented on the game against Slovakia on X as an "emotional rollercoaster ride".

Prince William has already made one trip to the European Championships. The heir to the British throne was in the audience in Frankfurt for England's match against Denmark.

Now he also wants to watch the Three Lions' quarter-final against Switzerland live in person. The football match will take place in Düsseldorf, so it will be a very short trip for William. He will travel there himself on Saturday and board the plane back home straight after the final whistle.

It remains to be seen whether he will be accompanied. He was alone for the match in Frankfurt - although he did meet the Danish King Frederik X and his daughter Princess Josephine. They naturally supported their home country.

Perhaps Switzerland will give the English a leg up

Prince William was even tempted to comment on X after the game against Slovakia. He described the game as an "emotional rollercoaster" and congratulated the English team on reaching the quarter-finals. They beat their opponents 2:1.

It remains to be seen whether he can be happy again after Saturday's game against Switzerland. Of course, we hope the England national team flies home with the prince.
