Wöhrl's son Emanuel died 23 years ago at the age of 12 after an accident. The high school student died because he climbed out of the window of his parents' house onto scaffolding in July 2001 and fell six meters.

Dagmar Wöhrl wrote on Instagram: "Oh, Manu, why? We have been waking up without you in our lives for more than 8400 days. Since then, I keep asking the one question for which there is no answer."

Wöhrl goes on to write that she misses Emanuel every day, every hour, every minute: "Until my last breath. In never-ending love. Mama."

Establishing a foundation

TV colleagues such as RTL presenter Frauke Ludowig and actress Katy Karrenbauer offer their condolences and post a black heart on social media.

In 2005, Dagmar Wöhrl and her family set up a foundation in the name of her late son. The Emanuel Wöhrl Foundation is committed to the welfare of children worldwide.

"Lion's Den" investor Dagmar Wöhrl has been married to entrepreneur Hans Rudolf Wöhrl since 1984. The couple have another son, Marcus, who is 38 years old.
