Hansi Flick, Barcelona's new coach, saw his team improve after the break and was rewarded with two goals. Pedri (60') and Olmo (82') corrected the deficit at the break.

Olmo, who was signed for 55 million euros, made his first appearance for Barça after the break. The Spanish international came through the club's youth ranks, but made his breakthrough via Dinamo Zagreb and Leipzig. His first appearance after his return was delayed in the last few days because he could not initially be registered due to FC Barcelona's financial problems.

Barcelona, the only team in La Liga still without a clean sheet, scored two goals at Vallecano in Madrid, a shot off the crossbar from Olmo (58') and a disallowed goal from Robert Lewandowski (71'). The Catalans have their next match at home against Eray Cömert's Valladolid on Saturday.
