Fabian Rieder will play for VfB Stuttgart next season. French first division club Stade Rennes are loaning the Swiss player to the Swabians for a season.

VfB Stuttgart confirmed the loan transfer on all channels. Rieder, who was surprisingly in the Swiss starting line-up against Germany (1:1) on Sunday, "is a very good fit for us with his footballing qualities and also with the experience he has already gained despite his young age," said sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.

The 22-year-old midfielder Rieder scored three goals in 21 appearances for Stade Rennes last season. Rieder has the chance to play in the Champions League at VfB Stuttgart. Rieder already got to know VfB's training ground last week when he trained there occasionally with the Swiss national team due to the grass problems at the Waldau Stadium.
