Lewis Hamilton will tackle the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with a major handicap. The record world champion in the Mercedes will have to start from the pit lane.
Engine parts were replaced on the Englishman's car after qualifying that exceeded the permitted limits. As a result, Hamilton loses his seventh place on the grid and has to start from the pits instead.
Esteban Ocon suffered the same fate. However, the Frenchman in the Alpine had finished last in qualifying anyway.
For the Sauber drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, the penalties against Hamilton and Ocon mean that they move up to 16th and 17th on the grid.
