Jérémy Desplanches qualifies for the semi-finals in the 200 m medley, keeping alive his chances of repeating his bronze medal in Tokyo 2021.
Jérémy Desplanches had only entered the 200m medley event at all at the invitation of World Aquatics. But the Geneva native, who won bronze in his showpiece discipline in Tokyo 2021, overcame the first hurdle and qualified confidently for the semi-finals on Thursday evening.
In his preliminary heat, the Geneva native managed the fifth-fastest time in 1:58.46 minutes. Across the four heats, the 29-year-old swam the ninth-best time and thus secured one of the 16 places in the semi-finals.
