Carmen Brussig is unable to add another medal to her impressive Paralympic palmarès. The judoka leaves the mat twice as a loser in Paris.

The 47-year-old East German, who is competing in the Paralympic Games for Switzerland for the first time, also suffered bad luck in the 48 kg weight category. She was first defeated by Li Liqing from China, the gold medal winner in Rio, and then by Isabelle Thal from Germany. Both fights ended with Ippon, both before the end of the first minute of the competition.
Brussig, who trained as a confectioner, has lived in Switzerland for 20 years. Before moving to Switzerland, she won a complete set of Paralympic medals for her home country: Bronze in Beijing 2008, Gold in London 2012 and Silver in Rio 2016.
