At the Swiss Road Championships in Aire-la-Ville near Geneva, Noemi Rüegg can be celebrated as Swiss champion for the first time.
After 108 km, Rüegg proved to be the strongest in the sprint of an eight-rider group. The 23-year-old from Zurich, who works for EF Education-Cannondale, started the sprint from the front and crossed the finish line first, ahead of Linda Zanetti and Caroline Baur.
Local hero Elise Chabbey could only manage 5th place in her quest for her second championship title since 2020. Last year's winner Marlen Reusser is still not racing due to a feverish infection.
