Szymon Marciniak will referee the European Championship round of 16 final between Switzerland and Italy in Berlin on Saturday.
This was announced by UEFA on Thursday.
It will be the 43-year-old Pole's second assignment in the tournament after he refereed Belgium's 2-0 win over Romania in the group stage. Switzerland's only international match to date under Marciniak's leadership was the 2-0 win over Ireland in the European Championship qualifiers in October 2019.
The experienced referee has often proven that Marciniak is suitable for higher tasks. In 2022, he was allowed to referee the World Cup final between Argentina and France, which the South Americans won on penalties, and in 2023 the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan (1:0).
