Katie Ledecky wins her ninth Olympic gold medal.
After winning the 800 m crawl, the American swimmer joins Russian gymnast Larissa Latynina as the most successful Olympian in terms of gold medals.
It was a record-breaking gold for the 27-year-old Ledecky, who has been making her mark on middle-distance swimming since 2012. Back then in London, she won Olympic gold in the 800 m crawl for the first time as a 15-year-old. On Saturday evening, she triumphed at this distance for the fourth time in a row, beating Australia's Ariarne Titmus and her compatriot Paige Madden to the other podium places with a time of 8:11.04.
