Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is ending his career. The 84-time international announced this on Instagram after his contract with Juventus Turin was terminated almost two weeks ago.
"Even if my body was still ready for new challenges, my heart is no longer in it. I feel that now is the time to devote all my attention to my family," wrote Szczesny. The 34-year-old was a three-time champion and two-time cup winner with Juventus. He also played for Arsenal, Brentford and AS Roma. He took part in four European Championships and two World Cups with Poland.
"I left Warsaw, my home town, in June 2006 to go to Arsenal with a dream - to be able to make a living from football," added Szczesny. "Little did I know that this would be the start of a journey of a lifetime. I owe everything I have and everything I am to football."
