Thiago Alcantara has ended his career at the age of just 33. The Spanish midfielder bids farewell to life as an active footballer with a post on X.
"I will always be ready to give back what I have been given. And I'm grateful for the time I've enjoyed. Thank you, football. And thank you to everyone who accompanied me and made me a better player and person along the way. See you soon, Thiago," he wrote.
Thiago Alcantara was under contract with Liverpool FC last season, but recently - as has been the case throughout his career - he has had to battle injuries time and again. He won a total of 32 titles with FC Barcelona, Bayern and Liverpool, including two Champions League titles. He also won the European Championship title three times with the Spanish junior national team, including a victory over Switzerland in the final of the 2011 U21 finals.
