The first tournament of the newly established Euro Hockey Tour for women will take place in Kloten from Thursday to Saturday. Switzerland will face Sweden, the Czech Republic and Finland in turn.

Swiss national team coach Colin Muller, who a few days ago extended his contract by two years until 2026 and has a new assistant in Sweden's Alfons Malmström, is delighted that there will now also be a Euro Hockey Tour for women at least until and including the 2026/27 season. "It's an important step towards promoting women's ice hockey," says the 60-year-old.

As with the men, there will be four tournaments per season. Switzerland will be the host nation each August and will welcome Germany as the fifth team from 2025. On the December date in Finland, either the USA or Canada will also take part alongside the host nation, Sweden and Switzerland.

In Kloten, Muller is relying primarily on players from this year's World Championship team. The team will be led by Lara Stalder, who has already made 187 appearances for Switzerland. Alina Müller, who plays in the Professional Women's Hockey League, is not included.

While the Swiss have won their last two games against opening opponents Sweden, they have lost six games in a row against the Czech Republic. Both World Championship duels against Finland were lost in Utica in April, with a 3-1 defeat in the quarter-finals.
