In absolute figures, the city of Baden with 11.8 million francs and the city of Aarau with 8.4 million francs make the highest contributions, while Reinach AG receives the highest contribution with just under 5.4 million francs, as announced by the State Chancellery on Friday.

On a per capita basis, the village of Geltwil in Freiämter pays the most, while Oberhof in Fricktal is the largest recipient. After the total volume of compensation payments fell for two years, it will increase by CHF 2 million for 2025, according to the State Chancellery.

Total volume of 120 million francs

The most important equalization instrument is the resource equalization of 75 million francs. CHF 20.5 million was redistributed for the equalization of social burdens, CHF 16 million for the spatial-structural burdens and CHF 8 million for the equalization of educational burdens.

This adds up to almost CHF 120 million, which is more than the CHF 97 million actually paid out. The reason for this is that certain municipalities are donors in some categories and recipients in others.
