In the city of Lucerne, a public bus collided with a delivery van and then crashed into a tree in a small park on the other side of the road. The bus passengers were not seriously injured in the accident.

According to a statement from Lucerne police, the accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. on Obergrundstrasse in the southwest of the city. The articulated bus operated by Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern AG (VBL) was heading towards the city center when it collided with the rear of a delivery van.

After the collision, the bus veered to the left, crossed the oncoming lane and hit a tree in the Lindengarten. The force of the impact lifted the vehicle onto a retaining wall.

According to the Lucerne police, the cause of the accident was still unclear at midday. The bus driver was taken to hospital because she was presumably suffering from a health problem. The bus passengers were looked after by the fire department and the rescue service at the scene.

Obergrundstrasse was closed until around midday due to the accident. Traffic was diverted. The buses were able to pass the scene of the accident.
