Aargauische Kantonalbank (AKB) delivers a lot of money to the canton of Aargau's state coffers. The total for the past financial year is CHF 117 million. That is 25 million francs more than a year earlier.

This was decided unanimously by the Grand Council on Tuesday. The record-high payment is an important contribution to the canton's finances, it said. The state-owned Kantonalbank generated a profit of CHF 253.8 million in the 2023 financial year. The canton de facto splits the profit transfer of 117 million francs: 55% flows into the ordinary state account and 45% into the special financing for special

However, the debts in this special financing were completely paid off by the end of 2023. As a result, the millions for the special charges will ultimately also go into the ordinary government accounts at the end of this year.

In addition to the profit transfer of CHF 117 million, the state guarantee will be settled for CHF 14 million. The bank will also pay taxes of CHF 13.3 million.

Following an earlier parliamentary decision, the cantonal government is obliged to present a solution for the equal distribution of tax income among the various AKB locations.
