Fortunately, you no longer have to fall back on your lovingly hand-labeled home video library to relive the good old films of the 90s. Anyone who actually owned a player in this millennium will know that the picture quality of VHS tapes got worse every time they were played. Our favorite films dissolved into black and white noise before our eyes. But don't worry, they're still there on Disney+!

Watching an old favorite movie is almost like seeing an old friend again after years: We've both aged more or less well, the world has become more complicated, everything around us has changed, and yet it immediately feels like the old days again. As if our last meeting was only yesterday. What could be better than reminiscing together and reliving old stories?

A good idea? We think so too! So here are our tips for your 90s nostalgia movie night:

Let's start the trip down memory lane with Dangerous Minds, a gripping drama based on the book "My Posse Don't Do Homework" by LouAnne Johnson. The ex-elite soldier, played in the film by Michelle Pfeiffer, starts her first job as an English teacher at the run-down Parkmont High School in East Palo Alto, where hatred, drugs and violence dominate everyday life, completely unprepared. She soon wins the trust of the class with her unconventional teaching methods, but her unconventional parenting style also brings her into conflict with her superiors and the kids' parents. And when a brutal act of violence occurs, events come thick and fast...

Different school, equally unconventional teaching style: At Welton Academy, the charismatic new teacher John Keating, played by Robin Williams, rebels against the prevailing conformity and tradition. In The Dead Poets' Club, he inspires his students to think for themselves and live life to the full according to the motto "Carpe Diem". But when an unexpected tragedy shakes the school, Keating realizes that he has incurred the wrath of the institution. "O Captain! My Captain!" An unforgettable classic.

And it remains extraordinary: Baz Luhrmann's dazzling and visionary adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic love story is fascinating. When Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes as Romeo and Juliet fight for their love not in 16th century Italy, but in the futuristic coastal city of Verona Beach, many a 90s heart will beat faster. "O Romeo, Romeo! Why are you Romeo?"

The selection of film gems from the 90s (and other decades too, of course) on Disney+ is huge and the list could go on and on: While You Were Sleeping, Sister Act, 10 Things I Hate About You, Cool Runnings, The Rock, Die Hard: Now More Than Ever, The 13th Warrior, Edward with the Scissorhands, Crazy for Mary, The Lion King, Toy Story, Independence Day, Armageddon.... Pure nostalgia!
