Repair work is running according to plan Bernina trains to run again from Monday after derailment

Following the derailment of a construction site vehicle, trains on the Berlina line will be running on schedule again from the start of operations on Monday. The repair work is proceeding according to plan, the Rhaetian Railway announced on Sunday evening. The line had been interrupted since Saturday.

Bernina Suot station was out of service during the repairs. Work had to be carried out on the overhead line, the tracks and a switch.

The accident was not related to the storms, the Rhaetian Railway said on request. No one was injured. Bernina Express trains were canceled without replacement from Saturday due to the incident.

Trains ran between St. Moritz and Pontresina GR as well as between Tirano and Ospizio Bernina, it was reported. Rail replacement buses ran between Pontresina and Poschiavo GR. The railroad was looking for individual solutions for customers of the Graubünden rail freight company.
