The South Korean airline Korean Air has launched an investigation into an incident involving a Boeing aircraft and numerous injuries. According to a company spokesperson on Tuesday, a Boeing 737-8 bound for Taiwan experienced a pressurization problem around 50 minutes after take-off from Seoul Incheon Airport on Saturday. The plane, with 125 passengers on board, had to turn around and make an emergency landing. 17 people were injured.

The 17 passengers required medical treatment, but no one was seriously injured, the spokesman added. "We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to clarify the circumstances of the incident", he added and apologized "to all those affected".

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has experienced an increasing number of technical problems in recent months. In a spectacular incident at the beginning of the year, part of the cabin wall of a Boeing 737 MAX 9 operated by Alaska Airlines broke out during a flight. The CEO of Boeing, Dave Calhoun, vowed to do better at a hearing before a US Senate committee last week.
