According to the Aargau public prosecutor's office, a couple allegedly killed their three-year-old daughter out of selfishness in May 2020. The severely disabled child was a nuisance to them. The couple and the girl's grandmother have been on trial in Bremgarten AG district court since Monday.

As the public prosecutor writes in the indictment, the now 34-year-old father and 32-year-old mother wanted to kill their little daughter with a high dose of ecstasy on the evening of May 6, 2020. When the child was still alive after a while, the mother took her onto her lap while the father covered her mouth and nose with his hand until she was dead.

According to the indictment, the parents had already tried unsuccessfully to kill their daughter with an overdose of sleeping pills in October 2019. The child had severe cerebral impairment and, according to medical opinion, was dependent on round-the-clock care for the rest of her life. According to the indictment, the parents were completely overwhelmed. However, they categorically rejected offers of help, except from the grandmother.

The public prosecutor charged them with murder and attempted murder. The child's 53-year-old grandmother is accused of aiding and abetting the murder. She knew about the murder plan and encouraged her daughter and son-in-law to carry it out.
