A climber fell to his death on Thursday in the Gastlosen in the Bernese Oberland. The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated, as the cantonal police announced on Friday.

The man has yet to be identified. According to the police, he fell over a hundred meters down a rock face while descending from the Eggturm. A woman who was also on the descent was uninjured. She was flown out by helicopter. The Gastlosen region belongs to the municipality of Saanen.
