Five people were injured in a collision in Hitzkirch LU on Sunday afternoon. They had to be taken to hospital. Among those involved in the accident were a four-year-old and a four-month-old child.

The driver of the car with the two children in the back seat crossed into the oncoming lane for reasons that are as yet unclear, as reported by Lucerne police on Monday. There he collided with an oncoming car, which was then pushed onto the adjacent railroad track. According to the police, the property damage amounted to around 50,000 Swiss francs.
