This summer, Geneva Airport expects passenger numbers to almost return to pre-pandemic levels. Around 3.2 million passengers are expected to travel through the airport in July and August, according to a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the airport's forecasts, passenger volumes in July are likely to be only 1.6 percent and in August 1.8 percent below the pre-coronavirus figures for 2019. A total of 124 destinations will be served by 45 airlines from Geneva Airport this summer. Most of the flights will be operated by EasyJet and Swiss.

In order to cope with the expected rush, the workforce has been increased. The airport service provider Swissport, for example, has also increased its workforce by 130 employees since the beginning of the year. Swissport handles over 70 percent of ground handling services in Geneva.
