According to the study, 52 percent of employees and 39 percent of managers surveyed stated that working from home had led to more productive work after the Covid lockdowns. The reasons given were the elimination of commuting times, more flexible daily scheduling and fewer disruptions.
Scientific studies have also shown that productivity increases of up to 22 percent are possible with the careful introduction of working from home. The prerequisite is that the employer provides the necessary work equipment and the employees voluntarily opt for this form of work.
Possible negative effects
However, the study also warns of possible negative effects. Forced home office, such as during the pandemic, could lead to a loss of productivity. In addition, communication between colleagues often suffers, which could have a negative impact on work effectiveness.
In Switzerland, the proportion of employees who regularly or occasionally work from home has leveled off at between 30 and 35 percent, according to the Covid study.
