A Defense Ministry fighter plane has crashed in Russia for the second time this week. A Sukhoi Su-34 fighter bomber crashed in the Volgograd region during a scheduled training flight in a deserted area. The pilots had catapulted out of the aircraft and were alive, the ministry announced. According to the report, the crash was caused by a technical problem. No details were given. No missiles are said to have been on board.

A Mi-28 combat helicopter had already crashed in the Kaluga region on Thursday. According to the ministry, the two occupants died. A technical cause for the crash is also believed to have been involved. Mi-28s are used in the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, for example, to destroy enemy tanks and armored vehicles.

Russia has already lost dozens of aircraft in combat operations in its war against Ukraine, which has been going on for more than two years. The Ukrainian air defense has repeatedly reported the shooting down of Russian fighter jets and helicopters. In addition, there have already been Ukrainian attacks on Russian bases in which aircraft have also been destroyed.
