Following warnings of an escalation of the situation in the Middle East after the killing of Hassan Nasrallah, Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has dubbed the Hezbollah leader a terrorist. "Nasrallah was a terrorist and a murderer," she said in Berlin on Monday.

On Sunday, the minister described the situation in the Middle East after the killing of Nasrallah as "extremely dangerous" and clearly criticized Israel's actions: "There is a threat of destabilization for the whole of Lebanon. And that is in no way in the interests of Israel's security," Baerbock said on the ARD program "Bericht aus Berlin".

Following the minister's words on Sunday, CSU General Secretary Martin Huber called on her to resign. "Annalena Baerbock is not up to her job and is out of her depth," Huber told Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND). "She is engaging in an unspeakable perpetrator-victim reversal and is casting doubt on Israel's right to self-defense," Huber said. She is damaging the German relationship with Israel. "She is no longer acceptable. She must therefore resign," demanded Huber.
