Public service Basel police get independent contact point for members of the corps

The contact point will begin operations on August 1, initially on a temporary basis, it was announced at a media conference on Thursday. The report published on June 21 by Basel administrative law expert Markus Schefer had revealed a great deal of misery in the Basel police force. Many of the police officers surveyed complained of a "culture of fear", a lack of trust in the leadership, overwork and racist and sexist incidents.
As a first measure, Eymann dismissed the police commander Martin Roth. The Basel SP wants to have the situation investigated by a parliamentary commission of inquiry.
