"Dnipro: Russian terrorist attacks against our city again," wrote President Volodymyr Zelenskyi on Telegram, expressing his condolences to the relatives. 34 people were also injured. The head of state once again called on the allies to provide the country with more modern air defense systems and long-range weapons.
"The world can protect lives, but this requires the determination of leading politicians," emphasized Selenskyj. Damage was reportedly caused to a shopping center next to the arms manufacturer Piwdenmash. Videos circulating on social networks were said to show several impacts on the factory site itself.
According to the Ukrainian air force, five out of seven missiles and all five Iranian-made combat drones deployed were shot down over the Dnipropetrovsk region. Explosions were also reported in the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih and the neighboring Zaporizhzhya region.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for over two years. The country relies primarily on Western help with air defense.
