According to a media report, Elon Musk is supporting Donald Trump's US presidential election campaign. The tech billionaire has donated a considerable sum to a Super Pac, an organization that supports Trump's election campaign in the so-called "swing states", the financial service Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.
The exact amount of the donation is not publicly known. Neither the Trump campaign nor the administration of the "America PAC" have commented on this, according to Bloomberg.
So-called Super Pacs are organizations that accept donations in unlimited amounts and can use them to promote specific candidates or political causes. The abbreviation "Pac" stands for political action committee.
Musk wanted to stay out of it
A donation in favor of Trump in states that keep swinging between Democrats and Republicans is a win for him. The election campaign in these "swing states" is particularly intense.
The Tesla boss had previously stated that he did not want to support either Trump's election efforts or those of incumbent President Joe Biden.
