Russian troops have continued their attacks around the Donbass in eastern Ukraine, far away from the war in the Kursk region in western Russia. Once again, Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian positions around Torezk and Pokrovsk, as the General Staff in Kiev announced in its evening situation report. The Russian ground forces were also supported by a dozen air strikes near Torezk.

Russian attackers and Ukrainian defenders fought heavy battles around Pokrovsk. A total of around 25 advances by Russian units were recorded during the course of the day, the majority of which were defeated. "The enemy losses are still being clarified," it said. The front reports could not be independently verified.

The General Staff did not provide any detailed information on the status of the Ukrainian counter-offensive near Kursk. It merely stated that Russian artillery and fighter planes were attempting to attack positions of the Ukrainian armed forces near Sumy in the east of the country. The area around Sumy is considered a supply line and deployment area for the offensive near Kursk.
