In addition to human suffering, the devastating storm in Misox also had economic consequences. SMEs and tourism businesses suffered a loss of turnover and the damage to agricultural land is considerable. The canton is supporting those affected.

The canton of Graubünden announced on Monday that the consequences for the local economy, tourism and agriculture were clear one month after the severe storm. Nevertheless, it is not yet possible to name all the damage and quantify all the costs.

So far, the Office for Economy and Tourism has made a contribution to a special tourism communication to cushion the economic damage in the directly affected destinations along the A13.

Furthermore, 32 of the 37 pre-applications for short-time working compensation from affected businesses have been approved to date. And the Office for Agriculture and Geoinformation (ALG) will refrain from reducing direct payments or refusing contributions on the areas affected by the storm in 2024
