In the Israeli coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv, a rocket alarm was triggered in the early morning for the first time since the end of May. A missile fired from Lebanon was intercepted over the greater Tel Aviv area, the military later announced. The surface-to-surface missile was fired from a launching pad in the south of the neighboring country and the pad was subsequently destroyed by the Israeli air force. It was the first time since the massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023 and the subsequent start of the Gaza war that a rocket from Lebanon had reached the greater Tel Aviv area.
Hezbollah subsequently stated that the rocket attack was aimed at the headquarters of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad in a suburb of Tel Aviv. Mossad was responsible for the assassination of several leading members of the militia and for the apparently coordinated mass explosions of countless radio devices in Lebanon.
