The Israeli army says it is investigating whether Hamas leader Jihia al-Sinwar was killed during an operation in the Gaza Strip. A total of "three terrorists were eliminated" during an operation in the coastal strip. They are now investigating whether one of them was Sinwar.

"At this time, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed", the statement said. There were no signs of hostages in the building where the men were killed.

Pictures of a corpse resembling Sinwar have been circulating on social media. He is considered the mastermind of the massacre on October 7, 2023, which triggered the Gaza war and the regional escalation.
